Description

What is this?

It's... It's pencil !?

:faint:

Well... school is starting up again, and my art teacher is big on traditional art...
So, why not get a bit of practice in and warm up them drawing muscles in my mouse hand?

I made the lines rainbow just for interest level... plain old gray pencil lines are rather boring anyway...

This dragon was created for a couple of reasons;

1. 'Cause I wanted to draw something.
2. I need to work on different poses... This one 's not too terribly wild, but it's better than that cliche side perspective I usually draw...
3. I need to work on anatomy... This is still not the best, being a fanciful creature and all, but it helps...
4. I wanted to make a new race of sorts for the planet of H'Trae (of which more info shall be revealed later)
And 5. It's good to get back to traditional roots now and again... I plan on inking this, and coloring it with my crayola colored pencils...

Crayola's are  ...

Now; some species information...

This is a type of dragon referred to as a Bounder... Particularly a Marsh Bounder (hence the title)...
They have short, thick, heavily muscled fore legs and an equally buff chest for running, climbing, participating in Olympic games, what have you.
Their hind legs seem oddly out of proportion from their front. They act like a bizarre mixture between a tyrannosaurus, or velociraptor's back legs and a jack-rabbet's. These limbs allow the dragon to jump double it's body length (discluding the tail).
It can also run, but with a rather awkward gait because of it's dis-harmonized limbs. So it tends to bound instead (hence the name). It can attain speeds of 63 MPH for moderate distances.
The fins on its bum (heh heh... I said 'bum'... :P ) and the end of its tail help maintain balance while bounding...

That's 'bout it for now... :D

[Edit-ness] - just informed me that the fins on the Marsh Bounder's rump and tail would actually cause instability when bounding... I aim to fix that in the inked version... ;P

Yay for aerodynamic errors and smart people who help you fix them!
